Angel Lopresti, O.D.

Dr. Angel Lopresti is a developmental optometrist and an associate physician in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.  She is the owner and director of Angel Eyes Optometry, a very specialized optometry practice located in downtown San Diego.  She also works exclusively with the Insight Vision Center, a non-profit organization that provides children, who exhibit significant financial hardship, with scholarship funding for examinations, glasses and vision therapy.

Dr. Lopresti continues to be on the cutting edge of her field, providing many optometric specialties in addition to routine ocular health and vision examinations.  Her specialties include:  developmental vision exams, pediatric evaluations, infant exams, visual information processing evaluations, vision therapy, sports vision enhancement training, vision rehabilitation, low vision, special needs populations, motion sickness treatment and contact lens evaluations.

Dr. Angel Lopresti completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology and Neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego and her Doctorate in Optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry, graduating with special recognition as the “Clinician of the Year” and receiving the John R. Griffin Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy.

She has co-authored sports vision research presented at the American Academy of Optometry and research on the efficacy of vision therapy involving patients with special needs.  Her research on Ice Hockey faceguards was published in the Journal of Behavioral Optometry. 

Dr. Lopresti developed an instructional manual and designed computer programs for the VC 10/20 Optometric Stereo Video Projection System, an internationally distributed computer system for sports enhancement and vision training.  She also lectured internationally at the College of Optometrists in Vision Development annual meeting and served as adjunct faculty for the Pacific University College of Optometry. 

Her extensive post-graduate training in the following optometric specialties:  vision therapy, sports vision, rehabilitative therapy, low vision, specialty contact lens fittings, pediatrics (including infant exams) and special needs populations, was received under the direct mentorship of Dr. Carol Marusich, OD, MS, FCOVD, an esteemed pioneer in the field and renowned practitioner in Eugene, Oregon.

Dr. Lopresti is an active volunteer in community and non-profit programs for children.   She served as a volunteer physician for the Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Vision Project and “Give the Gift of Sight”, a non-profit that provides complimentary eye exams and glasses to millions of children worldwide.  She also worked with the United States Freestyle Ski Team as a sports vision consultant and has provided sports vision enhancement training for novice, amateur and professional athletes in the following sports:  golf, baseball, skiing, soccer, trap shooting, volleyball, skeleton and equestrian.
